Darcy Bergen: About the Canadian Securities Course

As the President of Clear Solutions for Seniors, Darcy Bergen helps older adults plan for secure financial futures. He has held the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) Certification, a credential that enables a professional to offer advice on securities. However, Darcy has not been licenced to sell securities for over 10 years. Darcy only offers savings plans and strategies that have full guarantees so his clients can never lose their principal and can have a worry free retirement.

Offered by CSI Global Education Inc., the training division of the Canadian Securities Institute, the Canadian Securities Course provides a comprehensive overview of securities training in Canada. The course teaches the basics of the securities industry as well as the investment options available within that industry. It teaches such investment techniques as portfolio management, statement analysis, and financial planning, and provides current insight into market trends.

The course offers online or textbook study, which students may combine if desired. Students also receive access to interactive online tools that allow for customization and personal assessment during study. Upon completing the course, the applicant must complete two required examinations. Each exam lasts for two hours, during which time the applicant answers 100 multiple choice questions. If the applicant passes the test, she may then receive official CSC Certification.
