President of Bergens Mission, Darcy Bergen is actively involved in the charity’s outreach ministry. Darcy Bergen’s service to the charity includes support of its ongoing speaking engagements at churches and functions, as well as promoting its book, ‘Forgiveness in the Face of Terror.’
In their book ‘Forgiveness in the Face of Terror’, John and Eloise Bergen, originally from Vernon, British Columbia, tell their story of working as missionaries in rural Kenya, which they began in 2008. While working with orphans who were suffering the aftermath of widespread political violence earlier in the year, the couple lived in the city of Kitale. One evening, a group of men wielding machetes broke into their farmhouse and brutally assaulted them. After freeing themselves, despite being badly injured, the pair was able to drive to their missionary headquarters, from where they were transported to a hospital, and then airlifted to Nairobi. In ‘Forgiveness in the Face of Terror’ readers learn about the couples’ miraculous physical healing as well as their spiritual journey to emotional healing, which brought them to forgive their perpetrators.
